Preparing for the Summary Care Record upgrade in England
Customers who use the Summary Care Record (SCR) to support patient care will receive the upgrade to v2.1 of the Summary Care Record (SCR). Please read the following important information about free training and smartcard updates to make sure you are prepared.
We are running training webinars and have also prepared eLearning resources. You can use either or both of these free training options to prepare for the upgrade.
Free eLearning training
Flexible online training at your own pace, at any time, and you can always repeat the training to refresh your knowledge when you receive the SCR software upgrade. The eLearning package includes short videos, a full user guide and quick reference guides.
New RBAC Roles for SCR v2.1 - New Role Based Access Controls have been implemented to accommodate some new functionality in SCR v2.1.
To use some of the new functionality you must have any relevant new RBAC activities added to your Smartcard via your Registration Authority and you are advised to do this prior to receiving the upgrade to SCR v2.1 in DLM 483.
The new (optional) activities for SCR v2.1 are:
B0370 (View Summary Health Records) – For the SCR Viewer. This allows the user to view SCRs for non-registered e.g. temporary and emergency patients
B0168 (View when permission could not be requested) - Emergency access to view the SCR. This allows the user to view an SCR for a non-registered patient in an emergency i.e. without their permission.
B0082 (Legal Override of Consent) - Legal access to view the SCR. This allows a user to view an SCR for a non-registered patient for legal reasons without their permission.
The existing activities required for SCR v1 are:
B0062 (Local System Administration) - Switching GP Summary (SCR) on or off
B8029 (Manage Detailed Health Records) - Withdrawal of Summaries
B0380 (Perform Detailed Health Record) - Schedule, manually start, manually stop, and manually restart bulk uploads, including the initial upload and queue processing.
B0011 (Analyse audit trails) - View system logs and reports
B0020 (Control Consent Status) – for changing SCR consent status
